Product information "Sonnenscheindauergeber CSD3"

The sunshine duration was of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) defined as the period in which the sunlight exceeds the value of 120 W / m² and is measured in hours.

Sunshine duration sensors are mainly used in weather monitoring networks and in tourist regions, to inform tourists about the hours of sunshine per day. In health centers and clinics, they help in the calculation of treatment and recovery measures. In agriculture, the knowledge facilitate harvest forecast by the sunshine on acreage. In building automation the CSD3 may serve to regulate internal environments such. As by regulating the use of blinds.

The CSD3 measures the sunshine duration by a high glass cylinder. It has no moving parts and uses three photodiodes with special diffusers for analog computation when the sun shines. Its signal output is switched to high or low for sunny or not sunny. The calculated direct radiation is also available.

The waterproof connector on the cable simplifies installation and maintenance. Standard cable length is 15 meters, 25 meters optional. The large drying cartridge with screw cap lasts longer and a moisture indicator shows when it must be changed.

The CSD3 is supplied with 12VDC and has a two-stage heating for use in rain, snow and frost. The heating is normally connected externally, but there are also optionally an internal temperature controller. The instrument is provided on its underside with a rugged mounting arm.
