HIM Radar Precipitation Gauge

Radar does not measure precipitation directly on the ground, but emits radar waves that reflect off rain droplets. The strength of the backscatter depends on the size and quantity of the raindrops. Spatially distributed precipitation heights can be determined via a corresponding evaluation. The quality of the radar measurements can be improved by calibration with precipitation heights measured directly at the same time.
